This cache replaces the original (now archived)
microcache I set nearby named "A Little Weir'd" (GCMNKR). As this is a new cache, finders of the
old one are welcome to revisit and see if they can log a new
find.
Ample road side parking can be found at 51°17.921 N
002°16.534 W (Map
HERE). Walk down the asphalt lane, then at bottom use the
turnstile to route towards the cache.
The cache consists of a half litre plastic
camouflaged lock-lock type container which can hold smallish items
including most small travelbugs.
There are 3 World War II 'pillbox' visible in this
area each over looking the other. Some may wonder why these and
many others like them can be found in the strangest of places,
defending nothing in particular. During the early days of WWII
there was a strong possibility that Britain was going to be invaded
via the South coast by the German forces. Defensive "Stop Lines"
where drawn across the UK, this is where the Britons would stand
and fight the Axis advance or at least try to hinder it and their
tanks. I believe these particular pillboxes at Tellisford form part
of the defense known as "Stop Line Green". This stretched across
the Somerset - Wiltshire Border using the natural defensive
positions offered by river valleys.

defenses visit www.britarch.ac.uk/projects/dob/index.html
