Geocache Description:

Cache the Great Canadian Badlands! July 14, 15 & 16. Group campground secured for event.

Hey there! Come out for a great event to explore the Canadian Badlands in and around Drumheller Alberta! Events will take place Friday Evening, All Day Saturday and Sunday until Noon. Schedule and further details to follow.

We encourage everyone to think of new caches for the area in preparation for the event!

We would appreciate feedback and tenative commitments to attend so that we can finalize our booking for the event site.

If you would like to help out for the event, please let us know.

**** UPDATE ****

Hello Prospective Antendees. Here are so more details. The Campground is on Secondary Highway 837 just north of the junction between secondary highways 575 and 837. The campground is the Drumheller Lions Campground. It's a very large well kept area with plenty of room for camping. Please note the following. At this ground camp facility, there are no power hook-ups, flush toilets or showers. There are well kept outhouse facilities and running water in a covered dining area. If this does not suit your style, please post a note and I will contact you with alternative camping facilities. The group campground has a great area for a group fire and lots of room for tents or RVs. It is also very reasonable. We will be looking to ask a small fee from all who stay to cover the cost of $50 per day. Additionally, I will be looking at getting some fire wood and that cost will be looked at being split as well. At any rate it will be cheaper than last years event at Sylvan Lake.
If anyone is interested in leading a group activity, please let me know.

Peanutbutterbreadandjam is organizing T shirts for the event! We need to know if there is enough interest to be able to place an order! Please scroll down through the threads and use the link to view his design and express your interest.

**** UPDATE **** (June 19)

I wanted to drop a quick note to keep all of your excitment peaked! We are now 25 days away from the event. The campground is booked, the t-shirts are ordered and the schedule is being finalized. If anyone in your party is celebrating a special milestone or birthday (such as GPSbear July 15) Please let us know so that we can incorporate it into the activities!

I can't wait! I'm so excited to be organizing this event. Cachers in the area have all been working hard over the past year and have added a number of great caches to the area.

3jaze has been contacted and although unlikey to make the event in body, he is looking on joining us via a new cache in the area. Looking forward to it!

The campground does not have firewood, it does however have a great group fire pit. If you have any wood that you could bring it will be greatly appreciated.

More to come in the next few days.....stay tuned!
