Geocache Description:

This is a three-part cache consisting of a virtual cache, a micro cache and a regular size cache all of which are in the vicinity of the Tradow Pass in the Western Cape.

The first cache that you need to find is located at S34 00.751 and E020 36.959 (the location given for the cache web page). Here you will have to find the year the Dutch East India Company established Oupos, a military outpost, to defend the area from marauding bands of Hottentots. The numerals of the year represent ABCD in that order. You will have to take along a pair of binoculars to read the date!

The second cache is a micro cache (a small golden screw top cylinder) at the co-ordinates:
S33 (A+D)9.A0(A+B)
E020 4C.A(B-A)6

Look for it on the left hand upright of the object built in 1905. Nearby is the Andries Uys Bridge built in 1966 and considerably more substantial.
Inside the cache container you will find the coordinates for the final cache location. Before you move on cool off with a swim in the river below.

The final cache is somewhere on the Tradouw pass, built by master builder Thomas Bain between 1869 and 1873. Tradouw is a Khoisan word meaning “ the woman’s path”- so come on ladies this one is for you! Watch out for muggles in the nearby parking place.

The cache contains the normal assortment of goodies, a geocache “Read Me” document, a logbook and pen and a toy soldier to guard the cache.
