A House Divided Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

eyeofWooglin: It was fun creating this cache for everyone but unfortunately my geocaching days have ended for now. I apologize for the loss of the third leg of this mystery cache and causing some frustrations for those who could not find it. The point of this cache is to bring the adventurer to this interesting and very historic home to visit. Best wishes and keep caching! If someone would like to take it over in the future just let me know.

Geocache Description:

This is a mystery cache in three parts. It is kid friendly and can be done any time of day.

In the early 1960's Oxford's first battle with urban sprawl began as a large debate over the future of a beautiful antebellum home erupted with the introduction of Oxford's first major chain motel. The property near the Oxford Square where the motel was to be located proved too valuable to keep the old pre-Civil War home from a probable fate with the wrecking ball. As is too often the case in this day and age, profits and "progress" seemed to override history and community and a little bit of our dear Southern town's architectural past was about to be forever destroyed. Fortunately, with the will of some far-sighted citizens and later the Oxford Garden Club, this magnificent house was preserved in a most unconventional manner. Literally cut in two and hauled off to a remote wooded area of Oxford at that time, this show piece now gracefully sits on top of a knoll in the northeast corner of our fair city available for parties, weddings and long memories. This geocache search takes you to its original site and follows the path to its present homestead.

1)The listed coordinates for this cache takes you to the original site of the antebellum home. Here, after learning the number (x) of wars William Delay was a veteran, you can determine the coordinates for the second part of the search.
34.(x-1)(x-1).(x)(x+6)(x+4)N
089.(x)(x-3).(x+1)(x+2)(x-1)W
2)Follow the signs to the antebellum home.
3)At antebellum home find the year it was built and insert the proper numerals to find the hidden micro-cache.
A=1st numeral;B=2nd numeral;C=3rd numeral;D=4th numeral
34.(A+A)(A+A).(C+A)(A+C)(D-B)N
089.(B-C)(D-D).(A-A)(B+A)(B-C)W
