Geocache Description:

Thousands of people pass this spot every day and most have never noticed this stone structure. While at the site, take a few minutes and read the plaque.

Located in busy Webster, Texas, this is the only surviving gatepost to the former 2,000 acre William States Jacob Ranch. Dr. Jacobs (1871-1951) was a fourth generation Presbyterian preacher, philanthropist, civic leader and active supporter in establishing Houston as a deep water port. In 1932, Dr. Jacobs went on to make his fortune pioneering the introduction of disease-resistant Brahman cattle to south Texas on this ranch. He became an internationally known pure Brahman breeder and helped found both the American Brahman Breeders Association and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This small cache is located in a film canister, near the gate. There shouldn't be any cattle to disturb your hunt but, just in case, please give any cattle the right-of-way. We think Dr. Jacobs would be surprised at what he could see in this area today.
*** NOTE: You MAY need tweezers to get the container out of its hiding spot. Please make a note of this before coming to make the find. Enjoy! ***
