A small cache in an area often overlooked or unknown, offering one of the only elevated views over Broadsound. Should be easy enough to locate. Made it pretty easy, as it is off the beaten track, and when you are in this part of the world, you are usually onroute to somewhere else.
For those who have roughly an hour to spare when travelling between Mackay and Rockhampton, this cache may be for you! - especially if "Coffee Break" is over crowded.(the number of people there had thwarted me numerous times)...
It's 16km off the highway, 13km of good gravel road, then a short steep hill climb (bitumen)***unsuitable for larger trucks & caravans***. At the top of the hill there is a small picnic area and on a good day, a good view over Broadsound, St Lawerance & Stanage. While you can drive to within 60m of the cache, it is probably best to park near the table, so as to not draw too much attention to the site - it is not that far away anyway (very easy 180m). The cache is a clear 1 litre plastic container, containing the usual assortment of stuff...
Read the plaque for some history of the site and how this cache got its name.
