Arlington, founded over 350 years ago, remains proud of
its history, even as it has grown into a thoroughly modern
community. The birthplace of Uncle Sam, the location of the first
public children's library, and the site of most of the fighting
when the British marched through it returning from the Old North
Bridge at the start of the Revolutionary War.
Arlington has preserved many of its historical buildings and
even recreated its town common. Once a thriving agriculture and
mill town, Arlington's excellent access to metropolitan Boston has
made it a very desirable place to live. One of the many eccentric
characters in town is a geocacher named Bigrock95. He can be very
protective and territorial of the conservation lands in Arlington
and Winchester; so much so, that he asked his geo-friend, Loch
Cache, to promise that he wouldn't place any caches there. He
thought the local cachers, Cwren, Munin and himself might like to
place some in their locale.
Well, a promise is a promise. The conservation lands of
Arlington are safe, for now. However, there are many more public
areas in Arlington than just the conservation lands.
There are recreation fields,
bikepaths and much more. To locate this cache you will need to
find several waypoints all within a short distance from the
home base of Bigrock95.
At the first waypoint, you will locate a fire alarm box. DO
NOT OPEN THE FIREBOX OR PULL THE LEVER. Look on the brace. Each
stage is a little different. All the waypoints are within walking
distance from the parking location. At the final you will find a
regular size lok-n-lok container.
UPDATE: Due to recent road improvements,
Stage One has been removed by the road crew. Until it is replaced,
please go directly to Stage Two- N 42° 25.548 W 71°
10.545
Please exercise caution when retrieving any of the stages or the
final. Stealth is required and thus, the diffculty rating was
increased from 2 to 2.5.
