Flat walk, starting on road, then grass, then edge of a field. Very muddy during the winter months. No gates to climb.
The Coronation Road ran from Falkland Palace to Scone Palace, and was the route the Kings took when they went to be crowned on the stone of Destiny on the Moote Hill at Scone.
From Abernethy, the Coronation road crosses the river Earn at Ferryfield of Carpow, heading onward to Elcho Castle.
Ferryfield of Carpow was the main ferry crossing point on the Earn. The river is slow-moving here and sheep and cattle could be herded across. They would be accommodated in the broad field nearby while the herdsmen negotiated their crossing with the ferryman. The horses would be ferried across in three's on wide-platformed rafts.
Once crossed over the Coronation Road would have then continued on the track through Easter Rynd and on to Elcho Castle.
Unfortunately there is a private house at the ferry point, so the cache is hidden in the fields where the livestock would have fed and rested.
The walk takes you past young Highland cow and goats to your right, and fields of Organic Vegetables to your left, noticeable by the amount of weeds growing naturally without any pesticides.
Parking is best at the start of the road just off the A913 at coords N56.20.433/w003.17.617. This is only a narrow road with soft verges, and no turning/parking at the end so best to be avoided.

Letterboxing.
In the cache box you will find a Rubber Stamp and an Ink Pad - these are the signature for this cache. Please take an imprint of the stamp for yourself if you wish to collect them in your own personal notebook. Then leave an imprint of your own personal stamp in the cache log book (if you have one), or simply sign as a traditional log book.
Stamp and Ink remains part of the cache but it might be an idea to carry your own Ink Pad in case the one provided should dry up.
