Geocache Description:

"It's 'D' Spot" is located within the North Eastern side of Encinitas Ranch Natural park. "It's 'D' SPOT" can be seen from the "Mountain Board" rest stop along the popular Encinitas Ranch water-tank trail. There are many entry and exit points, depending on which way you go there can be 1 or 2 steep patches with numerous elevation changes, a few bushy sections and a lot of off camber scribble-scrabble terrain that makes up the trail (Yes, there is a trail).

This is the fist Cache my 8 year old daughter and I set up we hope you like it.

Once at "It's 'D' SPOT" there are great views to the East over Encinitas, S. Carlsbad and to the Mtns in the distance that surround Elfin Forest. While views to the South, North and West are blocked by rim trail along Encintas Ranch Golf Course you gain a panorama view of this park's natural wonderland. Depending on the time of day you will frequently get views of the abundant hawks, ravens and other bird life circling the canyons immediately to the South, West and North; or come by an hours or so before sunset and see the hot air ballons in flight off to the south; or (my favorite) hit this place right at dusk and see the coyotes comming out of the brush up on the ridgeline looking for a rabbit dinner.

Entry and exit points exist from both above and below the Cache. If you are familiar with the now archieved "Road To Nowhere" and still in operations "FATBOY's Misery!!" this cache looks down on them. Parking can be found below at the Forum @ Carlsbad shopping center (harder) or above at the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course and local resident streets.

"It's 'D' SPOT" Cache is loaded with real good figuring swag (potential TBs). There is also a disposable camera inside, please use to take a picture and leave behind for the next cacher and we will post the photos to the site. Thanks to NoWhining the container is now a metal Ammo Box.
