Geocache Description:

Should be a quick find, she said hopefully. If approaching from above, use the stairs. Short bushwack from the path to the cache. GPS reception can be poor. Clue should help.

W.E. Breckon School, built at the corner of Spruce and Tuck, has gone the way of so many neighbourhood schools, becoming just another enclave of executive homes. But I remember the year my daughter's grade one class made the trek along Spruce Avenue to this ravine to help plant dozens of tiny pine trees to help protect the area from erosion. The trees were so small, so delicate, it was hard to believe they'd survive the winter. Sixteen years later, the youngest of those kids is now 22 years old and the trees are well over 10 feet tall. W.E. Breckon may be gone, but those trees will be there for years to come, a living tribute to the students and staff of one of Burlington's best-loved schools.
