Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second
largest overall.
In Roman mythology, Saturn is the god of agriculture.
Saturn has been known since prehistoric times. Galileo was
the first to observe it with a telescope in 1610.
Saturn is known mostly for the beautiful rings surrounding
it. Unbelievably, the rings are relatively thin. Though they are
250,000+ km in diameter, they are no more than 1.5 kilometers
thick.
Saturn has 48 confirmed moons, the largest number of any
planet. This number could increase as technology improves.
