Flood Prone?? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Heartland Cacher: Greetings from Geocaching.com I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for new caches submitted to Geocaching.com from Nebraska and Wyoming.

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses from the Cache Owner about maintaining this cache which makes it appear the Cache Owner is either unwilling or unable to maintain the cache. Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing. The cache will be archived and removed from the active cache listings. Should the owner decide to maintain the cache in the near future (30 days), just contact me (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, I'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks for your understanding,
Heartland Cacher

Geocache Description:

Small lock-n-lock with rope tether - please replace well (with ALL the rocks) and rehide well, Well camo'd and well hidden. General prairie terrian including grass, sandy ground, bushes, trees and weeds. Seasonal changes can make foliage thick or thin. Be sure to place back exactly as found to help keep it there. Nice area.

Long story with this one. I originally placed a cache here last spring. Upon arriving home I realized there was an existing cache just 300 or so feet away. Discouraged, I didn't even bother reporting it. A week or so later I heard about heavy rains and local flooding in Cheyenne. 3 weeks later I returned to retrieve my cache and it took 20 minutes of searching only to find it 4 foot high in a bush about 40 feet down from where I left it. Sure enough the cache was full of water. Logbook ruined and contents (metal buttons) rusty. Sigh - some cacher I was - bad container, poorly thought out location for 2 reasons (proximity and flooding). Anyway - the other cache is now gone so I am trying again. This one is definitly waterproof if closed properly and if you rehide it in same location should be safe from any flooding. Much better spot. Please cover well. Avoid muggles and have fun. Container has washed away 4 total times now but new one should stay put no matter what. (ha!) If I thought muggles were responsible - I would give up - but I am determined to find a container and method to withstand the occasional floods here!!!
