The Walled Garden Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Graculus: This cache has been unavailable for a considerable period and as the owner has not responded to logs I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "As the cache owner, you are also responsible for physically checking your cache periodically, and especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time - normally a few weeks - in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive or transfer the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

This cache can be found inside the walled garden. Please take care when retrieving this film canister.

This is a sensory garden area to sit and savour the fragrance of lavender whilst listening to the running water of the stone fountain. All visitors will be able to view floral borders, the roses, the magnolia and rhododendrons. This does depend on the time of the year you visit. Spring and summer will be the time to see the gardens at there best. Why not bring a bag of nuts and feed the squirrels. This cache is NOT in any of the flower beds so please respect the gardens and the gardeners for there hard labours. It is a nice quite area and seating is provided for you to rest your back side.Car parking is at the cache site so no need for co-ords. The garden gates are opened at about 0730 each morning and closed at dusk. So this cache is not available 24 hours a day. There is a children play area right next door to this cache site so the little 'uns will be happy while you go searchin'. The general area is very quiet although you should keep an eye out for mugglers in 'Flixton House' as there are a few windows where you might be spied upon. History: Ralph Wright whose family had grown to be wealthy landowners in Flixton built Flixton House and Gardens in 1806. In 1935, the Council acquired Flixton House and grounds and opened it as a park. If you are puzzled by the stone marked 'LMA 1723', you will be interested to learn that it commemorates Anne and William Latus who lived at Shaw Hall for 25 years. When Shaw Hall was demolished in 1955, the stone was brought to Flixton House.
