Geocache Description:

Flat walk along an old drovers track, linking the Necessity Brae with the south of Perth. Tree roots, stiles and muddy in places.

Pleasant walk between fields along an old drovers link road.

Can be approached from the east, or a longer walk from the west.

Well known by the locals, so please be discrete.

Quercus is the family name of the majestic oak tree.

A large tree which can survive for centuries, and a hard wood, popular in the cabinet-making industry. Deciduous, although there is also an evergreen variedy. cone-shaped at first before maturing to the well known dome shape

Its bark is a dull brown, and unevenly ridged lengthways. The leaf is a very distint shape of a long oval with deep lobes which turn brown in autumn.

It is widely planted in varied habitat.

Flowers appear in early summer, and its fruit is the well known acorn, a small plump nut inside its little scaled cup.
