This cache has been archived.

RheS: This one's time is over... thanks to all who visited and counted and searched... especially those cachers who made several trips because the container kept being muggled.

Geocache Description:

This easy urban cache is the seventh in a series of caches which will lead finders to view the glories of large public artworks in the "Chicagoland" area. I may not know what I like, but I know Big Art when I see it! And this is public art, so it's even bigger... and it's strangely lighted, too!

This cache will bring you to an amazing structure... which is so gaudy and glowing, it simply must be a Big Art. The coordinates given will take you directly to the center of the structure... where you will perform a simple calculation to compute an offset to the final cache. This cache can be found at any time, but the Big Art is best viewed at night.

To find the cache itself, count the number of seating sections (you'll see what is meant when you are there) in the center of the artwork itself. Multiply that number by 31, and offset that number of feet in a direction of 273° from true north. Yes, that direction is nearly due west... and you will probably find the cache if you approximate... but I've given it to you exactly. After moving to the offset location, the cache will be within easy reach. Don't gripe... I could have made you count blue lights.

This is a high-traffic area. There are people around at all times. Please use stealth to preserve the cache in its hiding place. If can don't spot the cache in its easy location, use the hint... that's why there's a hint. It's much better to use the hint than to be watched conducting a search, albeit in the wrong place, by a bunch of muggles.

The hint gives another method for determining the count... for those of you who disagree with me about what seating sections I mean, or can't tell the inside of the artwork from the outside.

The cache itself is a small tin box, attached conveniently. This is a microcache with just a log... bring a writing implement, please, as there is no room for one in the cache container. Please be sure to return the cache to the same place you found it.

Parking in busy city neighborhoods is always a challenge... but there are some meters nearby. Do not earn an expensive parking ticket by disobeying the law. Or at least, don't get caught. Happy hunting!
