The Cape Banks battery and bunker are located in the Botany Bay National Park. There is parking nearby, outside the pistol club, but gates close at 7:30pm. There are also tracks that work their way from Cape Banks, to Henry's Head and then around to the carpark outside Bear Island. Cache is about 1 litre in size.
The Cape Banks battery and bunker are the remains of a military installation built during the 1930s and later added to during WWII. It originally consisted of extensive fortifications, barracks, plotting rooms, and a hospital although most of it was removed by the military between 1953 and 1962. 2 concrete artillery implacements and some of the concrete bunkers are still intact here although the entrances have been closed off by steel gates.
