Monument on the Hill Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

eagsc7: Archiving now. With 64 finders from the locals to even an Hawaiian in just over 3 Years... I now see why.

I went down there remembering exactly where I placed it, so I didn't even grab the GPS. I knew I had the right tree... of course, they ALOT in 3 Years. I had remembered that it was placed flush with the ground on the West side(downriver) of the tree, so I started looking. After a few minuites, I sad It might have been that tree... or that one... or... You see where this is going. After about 15 minuites, I ran back up to the car, grabbed the GPS plopped the coords in (freehand) and then realized what others had made a fuss about. The Coords were OFF by just about 200 Feet!!!(197 to be exact).

I just had the hunch that it was over under that tree that I started looking at. There it is!!! It was just under a small pile of needles and NOT on the same side of the tree that I thought. Least I didn't give up and say to heck with it.

See the pics of Smes lookin thru it when we got back home

Geocache Description:

Remember me for once. Yellow Ribbon.

This is the first one of mine to be done in the area.

To get to the real cache from here you will need two of three things, either a pencil and paper.. or a calculator, AND using the coordinates from the site to do the math.
Take the dedication Day and divide by the dedication year. That equils D. From D multiply times 10. Drop everything after the 10,000 spot(i.e. x.xxxx). That is Y
Now, take the original cordinates (N 47 39.722 W 117 25.086) and subtract Y from the Minutes ONLY!

Simplified:

Dedication Day ÷ Dedication Year = D

D x Dedication Day = Y

Original Mins - Y = New Coordinates.

So, IF Dedication Day was the 2 Feburary 1980, then it would be like this.

2÷1980=.00101010=D

.00101010x2=.0020=Y

39.722-0.0020= 39.720
25.086-0.0020= 25.084

* On the West coordinates, once getting to the end, add .467 for corrections to weird math.*
**When getting to the second location, Look toward the loud rumble, and I am under the Left tree. Ohh yeah, put me back in my hole when you are done.**

Happy Caching

PS. If your math skills are not as good as they could be, answer these questions and e-mail the answers to me. Then I will give you the proper coordinates.
1) As the person is looking at you, what is the last word in this plate?
2)Going Clockwise around the monument(next plate over), what is the last full 'Z' name?
3)Next plate clockwise, My name was an actor in the movie I, Robot made in 2004?
4)Next plate clockwise, Luckly I'm NOT one of this Boy-band trio.
