Ode to a Lost Cache Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Pofe: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks,

Geocache Description:

Two-Stage Multi in Brett Woods Preserve.

A while back I was looking for a CTTrampers cache in this area. Reaching GZ, I spent 45 minutes hunting to no avail – reading the clue made me certain that I was in the right spot, but I came up empty. When I posted my DNF, the owner soon confirmed that this cache had gone missing; a victim of decaying wood and muggles. The DNF was not due to my own incompetence for a change!

Whilst my sympathies were with Al for his missing cache, I tried to look at the bright side; this area and the surrounding .10 mile radius were now open for a new one! Checking with Trampers to be certain that he was not going to replace the cache, I began formulating a plan for a hide that would show proper respect to the fallen ‘Tanky Tramper’s (T2)’.

In this two-part multi, stage one brings you to the area where T2 once was – wear a black armband as a sign of mourning for Al's pilfered cache while you search for the new micro that holds the coordinates for the final. The second stage, a small container, is a short distance away as the crow flies..but we’re not crows, are we? Bushwhack if you feel up to it (I did when I was hunting Tramper’s cache initially), otherwise take the long way around. Depending on the recent weather and the course you choose, there may be some boggy terrain involved, so don't wear those fancy white sneakers! Parking can be found at N 41 12.284 W 73 19.324.

Both stages were placed between 3:00 and 4:00, with accuracy readings near 20’. FTF is a couple of scratch off lottery tickets (don’t tell me if you win, I don’t want to know). Small trades only in this cache.

Please do not force the container; if you take a moment to have a good look at it, the method to retrieve it can be found easily. Kindly return it to the original position when you are done trading.
