Cape Arago Pack Trail Traditional Cache
popop: It's had a nice long run - nearly nine years! Time to put it to rest and open the area up for someone else.

A great walking trail through a coastal spruce forest. South trailhead is located at the end of Cape Arago Highway on east side of circular loop where a blockaded road takes off to the east.
I suggest walking the entire 2 1/4 mile trail to the north trailhead, cross the highway and return to parking area via the Oregon Coast Trail.
Be sure to grab the other two caches accessed from the pack trail. There is a virtual near the north trailhead. The other can be found by following an old road grade where the pack trail meets a prominent ridge. A side trip south on this ridge should take you to "Da Summit" cache. Return to the pack trail and continue north.
Cache is about 14 paces (one pace is two footsteps) north and perpendicular to the trail at a point where the trail steepens a bit. A large rotten stump is right next to the trail at this point. It is also 4 paces uphill (east) from the largest living tree (it forks about 40 feet up) in the area.
Be aware that this trail can be very slick when wet.
