This cache lies in the woods on the side of the Greensand Ridge
just outside Sandy. As you walk through the wood, you can see why
Sandy got its name.
About 200 metres to the west of the cache lies the East Coast
Main line railway, this being part of the Arlesey Straight where,
in 1934, the Flying Scotsman got to an official 100mph, the first
steam locomotive to hit the tonne. It was done as part of a proving
test for the introduction of high-speed expresses between London,
Newcastle and Leeds, and, we guess, because they could :)
You can see the Sandy pits and the railway best from the top of
the hill at N 52° 07.734 W 000° 16.853.

on it.
