When placing some of my nearby caches, I wondered where the Ranch Trail led. So, the Mrs. and I took a stroll today and found this lovely canyon just begging for a cache.
On the way, we were surprised by the recently installed trail access at the posted parking coordinates and the various brand new gates along the way. We were also shocked by the wildlife; a coyote chased a doe right across our path, I just wish we had the camera ready.
Now for some cache details: The cache is stocked with about 25 small trade items (including geo-collectibles, coins of various denominations, etc). There is plenty of room for about 75 more small items.
Note that you must sign the actual log sheet, my spies will be checking periodically. Please remember to return the log sheet, seal the cache container and replace everything for the next cacher. Also, please cover it back up so it won't be spotted by muggles from the trail below.
Believe it or not, I do run across new cache concepts periodically. This one is blatantly plagerized from one found up on I80 and one down in the San Fernando Valley. The cache is rated appropriately, so if you don't like tough hides, pls skip this cache and vent your frustration elsewhere.
The cache is hidden in a small canyon, about a mile each way from the posted trailhead following several trails on relatively level terrain. The cache's high terrain rating is mainly because of the last 100 feet.
