As First Scribe to Ramesses The Great I have been witness to
marvelous things. My Master was a great warrior who battled the
Hittites for many years. However, instead of totally annhilating
them he formed a written agreement with his enemies to bring an end
to a very long period of war and hostility. We have begun calling
this document a "treaty" and it is the first of its kind. He was
also a great builder who erected many monuments through out his
land. His construction of the temple at Luxor, the Rameseum and
other divine architecture are sure to please the gods!
When Pharaoh Ramesses died I thought I would be released from my
postion as First Scribe to return back to Syria. I have served
Pharaoh faithfully for many years and my loyalty has always been
richly rewarded. However, it seems that my duties are not quite
complete.
When the High Priests are finished preparing the Master's body
for the netherworld they will perform the burial rituals and seal
his tomb. As one of his important servants, I too will be sealed
inside to serve Pharaoh as he rules in the Next World. I am greatly
honored at being chosen and am eager to serve my King in the
afterlife..
I have recorded the location of the final resting place of my
Master for the priests and hope that the secret will be protected
for all eternity.
