And, of course, CACHING!

Here it is, the MnGCA 2006 Poker Run and Dinner, open to any and all cachers! Dinner will be at 6:00 PM at:

Carbone's Ristorante
9200 Lexington Ave, Lexington
(763) 786-1113

Here's the idea: On Saturday, April 8th, we'll meet at the listed coordinates at 12:00 noon (the coordinates are for the Centennial Middle School parking lot). The event coordinator (that's me, jambro) will have a list of 7 temporary caches in the North Metro area. Each cache will contain only a supply of envelopes, inside of each will be one playing card. The object is to visit as many of the caches as you can, grab an envelope, and make your best poker hand - it's that easy!

I will have a complete list of the rules on the day of the event, so don't stress too much. I would advise to load up your GPSr with plenty of North Metro caches, especially if you don't get up this way very often, as the temporary caches will be close to many permanent ones - and what's an event without caching!

You are welcome to attend either the poker run, the dinner, or both. Space is limited at Carbone's, so please sign up as soon as possible. If we go over the limit (they can accomadate up to 40 of us) I'll need enough time to find another place. When you log your "Will Attend," please let me know which event(s) you are planning to attend and how many of you there will be for dinner.

If you have any questions, you can post on the mngca.org forum under the event thread, or email jambro through gc.com. Cache on!

Update 3/20 - Here is a list of door prizes I currently have in my hot little hand or that have been promised:
MnGCA gear: hooded sweatshirt, gray T, golf shirt, coffee mug, logbook, magnets. Also, 4 MN geocoins, assorted other geocoins, some unactivated TB bug tags, and a USB-serial connector.

Update 4/4 - we've officially gone over the limit of 40 for dinner. After much begging and pleading, I was able to grab another 12 slots, so they can now accomodate 52 of us. My latest count shows 43, so hurry up and sign up before it's too late! Sign ups will close on Thursday April 6th.

Update 4/7 OK we are finalized. Looks like about 44 for dinner and 43 for the Poker Run. I will be at the meeting site around 11:45 tomorrow, we'll brief at 12:00, and I'll probably stick around until 12:30 or so for stragglers. If you need to get ahold of me, I'll have my cell phone, the number is 651-792-5817. Looking forward to seeing everybody!
