Geocache Description:

This cache was part of the Cache Blitz 2006

Cypress Lake A nice hike at the top of Westwood Pleateau. There used to be a cache in this area. I disappeared some time before I visited the area the first time. But it is such a nice area, I thought I would place a new cache here.

Cypress Lake Cache

This is quite a hike for someone like me. This network of roads used to be used by off road vehicals. They are steep and rocky at times. In winter the trails are covered with snow, and are more difficult, but not impossible, to manage. In the summer the trails are frequented by the locals, either going for a hike or Downhill biking. One biking group has gone to a lot of trouble to map out the area, and post markers along the trails. www.trailpeak.com

I recommend the lower/longer trail for an easier hike (trails 1 and 11 on the linked map). The Cache is located by Cypress Lake, where the water level is controlled by a simple dam (or spillway).

Allow 3-4 hours (more experienced hikers should be faster)
Distance: 5.1Km one way (by the recommended route)
Elevation Gain: 1,550ft
Cache Elevation: 2,650ft above sea level

In addition to the regular trading items, the cache includes some small Garbage bags. Feel free to take a garbage bag, if needed, to CITO your trash out. Let me know when the cache runs out of bags, so I can stock it up again.

First to Find Prize:
- A FTF bumper sticker from the www.bcgeocaching.com web site.
- One set of Travel Bug Tags
- One set of 'Sissy-n-CR' Trave Bug Instructions Tag (discontinued?)

Enjoy the Hike,
