Geocache Description:

This multi-cache involves a circular walk through part of Great Bradley Wood, close to the small Somerset hamlet of Gare Hill. All footpaths/green lanes are permissive rather than public so please respect the landowner’s generosity in allowing access to his land. Entire round trip is around 2.5km and offers relatively easy going on well-marked paths, although in some places it’s prone to areas of deep, sticky mud.

Parking is available at N51º 09.730 W002º 18.843, with a second parking area for more robust vehicles a little further along at N51º 09.785 W002º 18.782. Follow the path to N51º 09.688 W002º 18.314 at the bottom of the hill, cross the stream and take the northeast path to N51º 09.944 W002º 18.153, where you will find a micro which contains half of the final cache co-ordinates. At this point the path passes close to an artificial lake.

Continue on to N51º 10.049 W002º 18.117 and take the western path which rises gently to your left. At N51º 09.993 W002º 18.374, adjacent to the path, is a small sign. This contains two words. Count the letters in each and label these A & B.

To calculate the other half of the final cache co'ords apply the following formula

N51º 10. [A-B] [A+B+1]

Once you’ve discovered the cache and left your expansive gifts and messages of goodwill, re-enter your original parking co-ordinates and complete the circuit back to your car.

The entire trip should take around an hour. Be on the lookout for the many deer that live in the woods – their tracks are clearly visible on the ground in many places. Birds, bees and butterflies will be in evidence at various times of year alongside abundant flora.
