Those of you who did one of [D]'s last puzzle caches have had
the opportunity to visit this area - but I think that was a
relatively small number of cachers. Since the Town of Newport
decided to open this space to walkers, and I just find the stairs
to be so cool, I figured I'd put another cache here. I'd save this
one for a clear day, as the view up here is beautiful, and offers a
unique perspective on Third Beach and Sachuest Point.
Parking for the stairs is at N 41° 29.438 W 071° 15.532. There
is other parking available, but it won't save you many steps
(except for the stairs...).
Now, you know I HAD to put the cache where I did - how could I
not?
Please be advised! During times of high
water levels (after a storm, etc.) I CANNOT guarantee that you will
be able to reach the cache site without getting wet (or at all). I
placed the cache during what appears to be normal water levels, and
had no trouble. However, I do not recommend that small children do
this cache, as the crossing may be too difficult, and the terrain
at the site is a bit harsh.
Snow prevented me from exploring as much as I wanted to, so
cache is not in a precarious spot. Again, if you take a child over,
please keep them close - this is not a good place to "run
around."
Please re-hide well, as this is probably a bit of a party spot
in summer. The hint is pretty specific, so don't be afraid to cover
it up well. Will be hard to find in snow.
