Beware The Wendigo Traditional Cache

It has been a while since I first looked at "Beware The Wendigo". I can't find any recent responses about maintaining this cache so it will be archived and removed from the active cache listings.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a Gladware container with a blue lid . Tree Cover is heavy even at this time of year. My accuracy was at around 15 ft. Cache Container and contents were provided by Team Kryptos from their Cunningham 1 Redux-5th Anniversary Cache Stash. Thank you

The City of Bellevue began as a fur trading post established by the Missouri Fur Company in 1822 to serve as a central trading point with local Omaha, Otoe, and Pawnee tribes. It recieved its name from early trappers who were impressed with the beauty of the view overlooking the Missouri River. Ideally situated on the Missouri River with access to the Platte River valley, it became a hub for transfer of manufactured goods from the East and furs from the West. Bellevue thus experienced a building boom.

The boom was short-lived, however and the second half of the century witnessed Bellevue's slip into relative obscurity. The trappers who had come and prospered in the first half of the century were now hard pressed to make a living. They had over trapped the land and now there was hardly anything left to trap.

In September of 1871 renowned trapper James Holsting gathered a group of 15 other trappers together to make one last push deep in the forests of Bellevue to try and restore the fur trade business. He proposed that they go deeper in the woods than anyone ever had before in hopes of finding some animals to trap. December of that year was one of the coldest ever recorded and contact was never made with the team. A search party was sent out in March of 1872 to try and find Holsting and his fellow trappers.

Only one member of the search party returned and the story he told was a horrifying one indeed. They came upon the Holsting camp and all they found were scattered bones
and a torn up base camp. Their first night as they camped on the spot they heard frightening roars and what they thought to be calls for help from members of the Holsting camp. They went into the woods to try and help and encountered a being known as The Wendigo. The Wendigo is a creature who once was human but was transformed into the creature when he resorted to cannibalism One by one the search party was dispatched. The one member who was able to escape said he noticed the medalian that Holsting always wore and never took off was around The Windigos neck.

The woods I have hidden the cache in are the woods that this is supposed to have happened in. When I walk through the forest paths and the sun starts to set I quicken my pace as I swear I can hear through the creaking of the trees the inhuman howl of The Wendigo.

The Terrain around the area of the cache can easily become a 4 after a good rain so exercise caution when attempting this cache.
