This cache has been archived.

Wandering Bears: I've decided to pull this series. Everybody is just finding the micros and I'm tired of maintaining them. I didn't put this series out "just for the numbers"... So I'm going pull it. Sorry to all those that wanted to pursue the noble quest but ran out of time...

Geocache Description:

The Quest for the Grail series requires you to find six micro caches representing 6 gallant knights of Arthurian Legend. Each knight will give you a piece of the puzzle that you need to locate the Holy Grail, the 7th cache in the series.

Launcelot was the son of King Ban of Benwick and Queen Elaine. He was the First Knight of the Round Table, and he never failed in gentleness, courtesy, or courage. It has been said that Launcelot was the greatest fighter and swordsman of all the knights of the Round Table. Legend tells us that as a child, Launcelot was left by the shore of the lake, where he was found by Vivien, the Lady of the Lake. She fostered and raised him, and in time Launcelot became one of history's greatest knights.

Legend also says that Launcelot was the father of Galahad by Elaine. It was another Elaine, Elaine of Astolat, who died of a broken heart because Launcelot did not return her love and affection.

Many sources tell us of the love shared toward each other of Launcelot and Queen Guinevere. There may be some truth to this since Launcelot was a favorite of the Queen's, and he rescued her from the stake on two different occasions. It was at one of these rescues that Launcelot mistakenly killed Sir Gareth, which led to the disbanding of the Round Table. After the Queen repented to an abbey as a nun, Launcelot lived the rest of his life as a hermit in penitence.

This cache is located just off the Rail Trail in Morgantown. Please note that the cache is located near the Monongahela River, and the water near the cache is swift and deep. The cache is located above the river, and although you will not need to get down near the river, you should be careful of your footing, this could be considered a dangerous area if you are not careful.

This cache should not be made more difficult than it is. The cache is placed under a flat brown rock (the only one around) within 10 feet of the trail and fence. You DO NOT need to crawl down into the grey rocks. Do not do so. It is dangerous and unneccessary. The hint describes the exact cache location, and the spoiler photo shows the exact rock you are looking for.
