Unsolved Case of the Zodiac
The Zodiac Killer was an unidentified serial killer who operated in northern California during the 1960s and 1970s.
He is believed to have murdered at least five known victims in Benicia, Vallejo, at Lake Berryessa near Napa, and in San Francisco between December 1968 and October 1969.
The killer's name comes from the many taunting letters to the press. His letters included four cryptograms, three of which have yet to be solved.
Thousands of suspects were investigated over the years, and it is the opinion of some investigators that the Zodiac Killer may never even have been turned in as a suspect to law enforcement and questioned.
In April 2004, the San Francisco Police Department officially closed the case, even though the killer's identity still remains unknown, and despite the fact that there is no statute of limitations on murder. Most recent info indicated that he may have moved eastward.

The current consensus seems to favor Nicollet County. If you believe you are closing in, use great stealth. The Zodiac has been known to blend in at the most popular locations.
