"Summers Cemetery", a.k.a. Rubyville Cemetery and Universal/Summers Cemetery... Located at the intersection of SR 139 and Maple Benner Road... It is listed as having three different names over the years...
It sits on the hill above Rubyville...School bells still ring below at the old elementary building...
Rubyville was a thriving little community at the turn of the century... The area here was early settled by the Ruby family..The Rubys were born in Butler,Pennsylvania and settled the land here in the late 1800's...Several family members are buried here...
There are many turn of the century residents that rest in peace here...Many veterans as well...
Included among the veterans intered here is Frances Yinger (1891-1965), who served in the US Army Nurse Corps in World War I...
A note of thanks goes to the ladies of the Army Nurse Corps who have braved many a battle field to save the lives of soldiers of every war since the Revolutionary War...
Still in operation today, the Army Nurse Corps Mission is to provide nursing leadership and high quality nursing care during war, peacetime or humanitarian operations, in support of the mission of the Army Medical Department and professional military medical health system.
To find it, drive up around the cemetery... Take the first left about midway...Pay respects to Frances Yinger as you pass by...You will find it in the section below the cross...There are some older markers near where you will find it...Don't look down, look up...
Cache is a camouflaged travel cup with cowboys and indians and key chains and more...And log book and pen...
