Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The cache is an ammo can, located in a spot overlooking (well, sort
of), the Conejo Valley Days carnival site, in an area generally
accessible by dirt road, however, some off-trail walking is
required. Various conditions (weather, obstacles on the site, my
general rookie status, etc.) lead me to question the precision of
the coordinates. Please send me a correction if they turn out to be
off by too much.
Conejo Valley Days, one of the nation's largest all-volunteer
community celebrations, is celebrating it's 50 anniversary in 2006.
Each year, there are about 8 weeks worth of celebration and
activities which work to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for
dozens of local non-profit organizations throughout the Conejo
Valley. These activities include the Kick-off picnic and car show
by Conejo Valley Rotary Club, Grand Marshal Race by various
non-profits, the Chili Cook-off by Thousand Oaks Rotary Club,
Special Kids Day by Zonta Club of Conejo Valley, the CVD Parade by
the Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club, and of course, the 5 day carnival
at the Conejo Creek South site. Each year, CVD selects a theme
(2006's is the title of this cache) and designs a badge to sell
throughout the community. Included in the cache is a bunch of
badges from 2005 CVD, including a few from the winning Grand
Marshall Candidate, Kevin "the Colonel" Kern.
Please take only one badge per person. You can trade for something
else if you'd like, but it isn't required. For the FTF, I've
included a very hard-to-come-by metal star (shown below) given to
the CVD committee members who put on this great series of events
each year. Definitely a collector's item!
Hope you find this cache, and I hope you'll all come out and take
part in this grand community event!
