A Grassy Knoll Traditional Cache

Out for a little cache retrieval exercise today. Did the loop from Upper Maguire trailhead, then counter clockwise around the peak. A few side trips off trail, of course. 7.2 miles, 2139’ ascent.

Beautiful day in the park. Temps were cool. Wind was blowing steady. Never saw another soul the full day. Did run into a bunch of wildlife. A bobcat down on the road. A couple hen turkeys and their brood of about a dozen chicks. (Baby turkeys look like plucked chickens!) Lots of lizards and birds. The wildflowers were putting on a show too. Lovely.

Pulling my caches on the route. Archiving everything in my inventory as time allows. Too many hassles and too much whining from cachers. Verbal abuse in email and logs. Finds logged when they did not visit and sign. People celebrating the king of fake logs with events! And GS not providing any support when the CO tries to enforce the quality of his caches. Done.

My suggestions for anyone that has concerns with this approach:
* Help clean up the game by raising your concerns with Groundspeak. Let them know that bad behavior by players, cheating, allowing false finds, and such has degraded the game.
* Do the same with the cachers involved. Politely hold them accountable. Publicly, in some cases, if need be.

Geocache Description:

An easy to find ammo can located in a location that will give you awesome views of the Sunol Regional Park.

I love the rounded, sensual nature of the hills in this park. In the winter, the hills are a vibrant green. Spring and summer bring an abundance of wild flowers. Late summer and fall they are classic gold. This cache location will give you a taste of the hills well off the beaten path. Enjoy the views. Enjoy the tranquility. You will have a break from the crowds and, hopefully, a break from the bovines as well.
