Geocache Description:

south entrance ramp stay right. May be muddy.

You are standing in an area where the Illinois and Michigan Canal once ran. When flooding became a problem in Chicago, the Metropolitain Sanitary District build a new canal just to the north of the old one. If you look to the North, you can see the new canal.

Turn around and look to the South, and you see Interstate 55. Part of the old canal was filled in so I-55 could be built in this area. You are standing in the old canal area at the posted coordinates.

On August 24th 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation establishing this region as the Nations First National Heritage Corridor. This corridor is 100 miles long and covers a geographical area of about 322,000 acres within the counties of Cook, Du Page, Will, Grundy and LaSalle. Your search if for a Ammo Can.
