Geocache Description:

Round Aylesbury walk - Off the Rails

What is the Round Aylesbury Walk?

It's a 12 mile circular walk which can also be split into 2 or 3 mile segments for those only wanting a gentle stroll. It's a joint venture between the local Ramblers' Association and Aylesbury Vale District Council and is signposted clearly along the route. Most of the route to the North of Aylesbury is on firm footpaths and grassed areas, but there are parts of the Southern Section that cross cultivated fields and meadow land, so be prepared for some mud at times!

About the Cache
This short walk takes you close to the picturesque village of Stoke Mandeville. It's popular with dog-walkers and slightly overlooked by houses, so be careful when retrieving the cache.
It's also quite close to the main Chiltern Railways line from Aylesbury to London. Make sure the trains don't make you jump!

Transport:
See waypoint below for parking coordinates.

For bus services, use the X9,130 or X90 for stops along Lower Road (B4443). For stops along Wendover Road (A413) use the number 50. live bus tracking

Also, trains run regularly from Aylesbury to Stoke Mandeville station - which is within walking distance. Why not get the train and take in a few of the caches in the series?

The cache originally contained:
Selection of Euro coins
BBC World lapel badge
Bag clip
1st class stamp book
Log book
Pencil and sharpener

Note:
The cache is placed not far from a railway line. There are sturdy fences and styles to restrict access to the line, and the trains run fairly infrequently. However please be careful if you take young children with you.

Geocaching.com states under 'Help Center' in Paragraph 1.7: 'We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow. Sign both the logbook and log your find online to get your smiley. Geocache owners love reading about your experience'. There are more rules, but this is the first one. This cache owner requests that if on the rare occasion geocachers are unable to sign, an explanation is given in their log. A photo of the cache, if possible should then be sent through the messaging system. Thank you for your co operation.
