Simple cache located in the Wapley Bushes Nature reserve.
Pushchairs may be tricky in the woods. Great for Dogs.
Wapley Bushes is an ancient semi-natural woodland with two
flower meadows and a new plantation site of mixed native
broadleaves. Fantastic in the springtime with its carpets of
cowslips and woodland flowers, this woodland is great for walks and
picnics. It is a Local Nature Reserve.
There is a network of un-surfaced paths, some slopes, no dedicated
parking - the site should be accessed via public footpaths, 4.7
hectares (11 acres).
The site is owned by Dodington Parish Council, managed in
partnership with South Gloucestershire Council and Wapley Bushes
Conservation Group. They have kindly agreed to locating this cache
here so please abide by the usual rules, stick to the footpaths and
respect the work that has been done to preserve this local beauty
spot. There is never any need to wander from the paths.
You can get to Wapley Bushes from Besom Lane or via public
footpaths from Yate or Wapley Common. I come here a lot with the
Dog and can always park on Besom Lane. The initial location point
is a good parking place.
The Cache trail starts at N51 31.237 W2 25.115 where there is an
information post with full details of the area. From this sign find
the LAST phone number in the 'Management and further information'
section just above the map and transfer the coordinates as 01454
(a)(b)(c)(d)(c)(b) into N51 ab.a07 W2 2c.bb0. This will lead you
into the woods. Take a while to watch the Rooks, there is a large
Rookery here and they are great to watch and listen to. These
coordinates should bring you to a small bridge, this bridge takes
you over into the lower meadow. Note how many main sleepers have
been used to construct the long base part of the bridge (a)and use
this single number to locate the final information post as follows
N51 31.a(a+4)(a-2) W2 2(a+1).(a+6)(a-2)(a+5).

The cache is located within 8 feet of the information post.
The cache contains many small kids toys including a digital pet
thing and some other niknaks. It is also the starting point for 5
TB's.
1-Dan-Bug
2-Tom-Bug
3-Elisha-Bug
4-Steve-Bug
5-Claire-Bug
The idea is to see how far each one can travel to places of the TB
name initial in 1 year. So for example DanBug and only travel to
places beginning with D.
I hope you enjoy your walk through the nature reserve.
