Duck Dock Redux Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Shores Scout: I hate to archive geocaches, but I won't be able to fix this one for a while so I have decided to abandon it. I received a note that the area is somewhat contaminated, so proceed with caution if you want to reuse the area or the container (which is still probably in place).

Geocache Description:

A simple offset cache, with the final location within 200 feet of the coordinates listed and within 30 feet of the path. Please bring a pen to sign the log.

Bayfront Park is located at the northeast end of Marsh Road in Menlo Park.  The park was formerly a dump site, yet during my visit there was little evidence of its past.  When the cache was placed the hills were covered with thick, green grasses and the trails were being enjoyed by other walkers, runners, mountain bikers and R/C plane hobbyists.

Walt, living large

My dog Walt was on a long leash and he enjoyed exploring the area along the trail.  He even flushed out a pheasant near the cache.  Note: no animal was harmed in the creation of this cache!

Parking and restrooms are available at the first of two parking lots along Marsh Road.  A full loop along the flat gravel paths around the park is about 2.5 miles long.  Please note that the park closes and is locked up 1/2 hour after sunset.

The cache is named for a nearby wooden structure, but neither stage is located there.  Please keep off the dock since it is unclear whether it is structurally sound.

The cache can be found by using information from Lee's 5-line plaque at the listed coordinates and completing the formula for the final coordinates:

N 37° 29.ABC’ W 122° 10.DEF’, where:

A = first digit after the area code
B = last digit in the phone number
C = last digit in the phone number's prefix
D = middle digit in the suite #
E = outer zip code digit
F = rotate the first letter in the second line

Have a nice walk!
