It's been driving me absolutely crazy trying to figure out who this Marko Ramius character really is! And why would they appoint some guy with zero finds and zero hides?!? I am hoping that this cache will lure him into revealing himself. After all, how could he possibly resist a cache like this?
Anyhoo, once upon a time there was this uber-cache called Chupy 4: The Walkabout by Zar. It was a rite of passage for San Diego cachers. But as time marched on Mother Nature took her toll and the WPs started to disappear. Eventually the cache was archived, and there was sadness throughout the realm.
So, in the spirit of the great and wondrous Zar, the Walkabout is back. The WPs generally follow the original walkabout, with the exception of the “closed trail” leg which I did not feel comfortable leaving as is. So now you have to do a little more backtracking. But it’s not like you didn’t have to cover a lot of the same ground in the original incarnation, right? But don’t think you can just fish out your old WP 14 and shortcut to the end. The WPs might follow the original route but they are not placed in exactly the same spots. Sorry, folks, but you’re gunna have to do the whole walkabout to find the final.
The WPs are all cammo covered M&M tubes with coords inside. You never have to leave the trail by more than 50 feet or so. There is a very small bit of bushwhacking required, but nothing life threatening. This is rated a 4-terrain mostly because of the sheer endurance required. The route shows 3.9 miles as the crow flies but, as none of us are crows, the actual odometer distance is probably twice that.
