North Granite Ridge Trail, Musquodoboit Rail Trail
Up for a challenge?
Well this is it!
This is a 18km hike, the first 7km is on the rail trail (flat and straight) the next 9km is on the North Granite Ridge Trail (NGRT). The final 2km is once again on the rail trail, from the end of the NGRT back to the parking spot.
The Musquodoboit Trail website describes this trail as "rugged and punishing". Read that again to be sure you understand those 2 words. :-)
Suggest you park at (44 53.487N 063 15.016W) and proceed, along the rail trail, to the south end of the NGRT (44 50.639N, 63 11.489W), then work you way back to the parking spot along the NGRT (you have the option of doing the Gibraltor Trail (1km) or returning back to the rail trail.
If you want to drop a couple of KMs then park at the Musquodoboit Bridge on the 357 and head down the trail (by the iron gate) which will take you to the rail trail.
The first cache is 27 metres NE from the bridge, in the base of a tree.
The second...? Well…..you'll find it.
Bring a buddy, bring water, bring food and a heart defibulator.
Good luck!
