A tradition continues...

People have said bad things about the Joe's Happy Birthday series, but I like them. If they were just a few random micros then they would be no different than hundreds of ephemeral South Bay roadside hides. But as a series, a huge, seemingly monolithic series, "Happy Birthday JoeSpaz" transcends the micro and becomes something larger than the sum of it's parts. Conceived of and hidden all in one day, I've always felt the caches owe a debt to the works of Christo, particularly The Gates and Umbrellas. Like those artworks, "Happy Birthday JoeSpaz" shows you familiar landscapes from a new angle, challenging you to redefine your most basic concepts of what GeoCaching is, where it takes you, and what you find there.

I truely feel that our own Joe is an artist of similar merit, he merely needs to be recognized as one. I have hidden this cache on his birthday, in his honor, near where he hid his first cache. Happy Birthday Joe, wherever you are.
