Geocache Description:

As of 9/21/2018, this geocache has been SLIGHTLY altered to allow it's history and placement to live on! Yes, you will see Posted and Private Property signs on the dirt road leading to parking/Stage 1. But the lane is NOT private and the property that the cache is on is indeed NOT private. The day that I placed the replacement ammo can, the gentleman that lives in the closest house was there and didn't seem friendly, but did not say anything to me. If anyone says anything, simply tell them you are there for the trail and the two memorial plaques on the trail. There is NOT a cache at the posted coordinates. They are your beginning point. Stage 1: You will arrive to the base of steps of a huge platform. Looking at the steps, turn to your left and walk roughly 50ft towards a smaller platform. As you approach the platform, you will see a square plaque embedded into a large boulder next to the platform. Stage 2 coordinates will be N39 54.83A W77 57.51B A = The bottom line of plaque. Second word in the sentence has how many letters? B = The third line down from top of plaque has years listed. 1956 - 199? Add 1 to the ? number to get B. When you arrive at Stage 2/Final Stage, you will be greeted with another vista and another plaque honoring Richard Castellar Simonson. The cache is a 30 cal ammo can painted flat black. (BELOW IS THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL LISTING. Please note that the container is now a 30 cal ammo can NOT a coffee can as originally placed) The above listed coords will take you to a location that has been constructed for those foolish enough to think that God gave them wings to fly but forgot to attach them at birth!! After standing at GZ and averaging the coords for about 15 minutes, I decided that I was not one of those people. Although the area is breathtaking, I would just as soon have my breath taken away with both feet on the ground. If there happens to be someone using the area, stay around and enjoy the sights. As you attempt this adventure, PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION AND DON'T TAKE ANY UNECCESSARY RISKS. BY ATTEMPTING THIS CACHE, YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIABILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS. PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN REACHING INTO ANY AREAS THAT YOU CAN'T SEE....WOULD NOT WANT TO DISTURB ANY OF OUR SLIMY, BELLY CRAWLING FRIENDS. The coords will take you to a road that appears to be private, however, it is public as far back as you need to go for this adventure. However, please be courteous in the "neighborhood". At stage 1 you will find the coords for stage 2. As your searching, take a few minutes to look out over the valley below and enjoy the fact that your not 1,500 feet off the ground taking in the sights!! Again, if anyone is around, stage 1 will be pretty much impossible to get to. At stage 2 you will first see a plaque dedicated to a gentleman that, at one point in time, owned the land. He donated it to the Patomac A.T. Society to insure that future generations would be able to enjoy the area. The cache you are looking for is a camoed container approximately the size of a Folgers coffee can. In fact, it is a Folgers coffee can. It is big enough for almost all TBs and a fair amount of swag. It is starting with a few items that may be useful as you cache. Take something, leave something but most of all enjoy the area.
