6/16/08 Update: I have finally reached the right person in the City and have been told that this trail is absolutely a public trail and the signs saying otherwise should not be there. Cache on!
The trail head is on Golden Lantern, a short distance south of Camino Los Padres. You can park on Camino Los Padres.
Trail access can be found via entries on Precipice, St. Croix, St. Christopher and other streets in between.
Stealth isn't required, but using low voices while searching would help to avoid attracting attention to the cache area. The direct route is not the best.
It is not a good idea to look for the cache during or after rain; the way to it will be muddy and slippery and curious muggles may wonder why there are footprints leading there.
A trekking stick may be helpful for your ascent and descent. The cache is not recommended for young children, unless they are part mountain goat!
