Geocache Description:

Cache is located along the shores of beautiful Otter Lake. There is a trail that goes around the entire lake and this cache is located a short distance off this trail. Cache is a camo-taped peanut butter jar.

This cache is one of several I’ve placed in the Harrison Hills. The Harrison Hills is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful areas in Wisconsin. With its rolling hills and small lakes speckled throughout every turn offers a new vista. If you can arrange your visit in the fall you will be treated to calendar views around each corner. Be sure to drive the nearby Highway B for more scenic driving.

This cache is located along Otter Lake. Cache is not winter friendly but I've added a clue that should make it quite findable even in the snow. This area has a rough swimming beach, picnic tables, hand water pump, and (in season) facilities. On the opposite shore is, though very small, one of our favorite places to camp. There is a boat landing (N 45 26.579’ W 089 32.886’) and the lake is a no motor lake. Last fall my daughter and I set out after dark in our kayaks under the stars. The lake was absolutely flat and reflected the stars while the bats whisked over and around us. I caught my first fish here, a Northern Pike, a lot of years ago. We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we have ours.

The road in is gravel and can be very dusty when it’s dry and very muddy when it’s wet. When I placed the cache, as the snow was melting and the frost coming out, I had the truck in 4x4 (and needed it). But most times of the year it should be no problem for any vehicle to get here.

Original contents of the cache include: electronic game pen, orange beaded bracelet, Wausau staple remover, dice, popper, dinosaur flip book, purple beaded bracelet, and Ham Bone TB (this is a real bone and I hope nothing sniffs it out before the FTF!).

Gas, snacks, and GPSr batteries can be hard to find in this area. There is a small gas station/ store located at: (N 45 28.591 W 089 29.833).
