Geocache Description:

Start at this Beach Access at N. 21 15.436 W. 157 47.799. Parking is available outside the road. It is less than a 10 minute walk to cache coordinates.

From the beach access, walk east along the path & rocky shoreline. Shoes & shorts is preferred for the short rocky path & you may get splashed from the small waves or if the tide is a bit high. A minute into your start, there will be a short narrow broken breakwall, so be careful here, thereafter it gets easier.

Located at the backdrop of Diamond Head Crater along the coastal shoreline, Shangri-La was built in 1937 as a seasonal home of Doris Duke. Shangri-La was inspired by her traveling around the World & her passion for Islamic Art, Architecture & her "Love" for Hawaii. Doris Duke's Shangri-La Estate is filled with collectible artifacts of Islamic Arts & is recognized as one of Hawaii's most architectural homes & is open to the public for tour guides.

For more info and a virtual tour click here.

Your stroll to the cache will only take you to a few viewing sites of its courtyard and Doris Dukes open ocean boat pool which you can swim in. But its a great place to check out. The cache container holds a logbook, small trade items & can fit small TB's. There is sometimes muggles along the way to the cache usually swimming in the saltwater boat pool, so the cache is hidden just around the corner. I've camo'ed the container but please hide it back well.

NOTE : For a less wet experience, refer the tide chart here to check on local tide variance (Best to go around low tide.)PLEASE SECURE AND PROTECT ALL ELECTRONICS SUCH AS GPSr,DIGITAL CAMERA, CELL PHONE ETC. IN A WATERPROOF BAG OR ZIPLOC JUST IN CASE IF THEY GET WET.
