Dip...A Matter of Time Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

JollyJax: With much regret as I am living too far away to maintain the series, the game is now over. For those that wondered who Hem Slobbich was or rather is ... thats easy ... its me. The name is an anagram of my real name.

The series was inspired by a gravestone in Wood Eaton Churchyard bearing some Japanese characters and in memory of Richard Storey, Professor of Japanese Studies at Oxford University. The grave also remembers his wife Dorothy.

Geocache Description:

A series of caches in search of map to lead you to a stolen hoard ... The coordinates above are there because we need a start for geocaching.com but relate to nothing more than the start coordinates for a now archived cache I once recall.

Its Only Matter of Time ….

Having been released from the place of custody just down the hill from my first drop point last Friday, I had little but a plastic sack containing my possessions and a cheque for £43.00 as my release grant; Buses don't take cheques and nor do taxis How far is the nearest town. Why don't they give us maps? After three months of being a good boy because I couldn't be anything else, now I am free and able to walk again at least

Let me begin at the beginning.. I know you’ve heard it a million times before but I am an innocent man incarcerated by deed but not intent. Some Slovenian or a Croatian scuffer caught me, red handed almost. I hadn't hurt anyone and all I stole was a box from an empty house. A box long forgotten by its true owners I thought and to whom the contents were precious, I understood. I was paid well to fetch it but my benefactor never saw a return. This investigator heard I was planning the heist and laid in wait for me in secret. He wasn't interested in justice, I don't think, greed was the thing that drove him and still does. I felt him close to me as I left the scene and was able to quickly hide the stash before he closed in. Upset that he hadn't caught me with the box he had me framed as a common thief and I served a spell for the crown. Actually I served some and was given some on the tag that I am wearing now. That is one of the reasons I am not looking for the box myself but hoping you will help me find it. I cannot leave a 5 mile area and I have a curfew after dark. I made a map and have hidden it in a box in some woods but I wont tell you here where to find it. Instead I have devised a number of box locations some of which will give you clues to the maps' location and some that will give you information about the final stash. Read everything carefully and you will have the rewards you deserve. I cant go get the map myself, as the guy that put me away is still watching me like a hawk and hoping I will lead him to the stash.

From the place you last saw sight of me I ran on and thought I had evaded the Croatian at last. I rested the night in a very cold metal barn, the little cover it offered me was welcome and at first light I ventured out, only to discover that the guy had been so close to discovering me where I lay. You ever seen a frightened rabbit in a cars headlight .. that was me. I left a clue there for you but circling around here I retrieved it again and ran south a way before finding the bridge to nowhere and the “dip”. Its between two trees and its not far North of two wooden gates that form two boundaries across the path.

I dashed out of the new housing area into the tranquil surroundings of a secluded village. The contrast was stark and I ran headlong through the streets. I didn’t pass the village sign but remember some details that may help you find your way. There was a sign at my back against the village pond and facing away from that I could see a old fashioned lamp post to the North, towards the way I had come. A good Samaritan I bumped into near The Old Pound gave me some money for food and told me the name of this place. Now hours later with a mushy burger and some hot chips inside me, curled here in the straw, I cant think of its name but recall a silly phrase that has stuck with me even now "Welcome to Swampy Monkey."

Don't forget to collect the final symbol and number from this cache. You may need them soon.
