Geocache Description:

Yet another ‘undiscovered’ walk giving great views of Loch Lomond and beyond.

It looks like people are finding the old broken cache that I didn't find and remove when I (re)placed the replacement. Photo from the last visitor is defos not the replacement container. If anyone finds the old box again please do a bit of CITO and keep looking for the replacement, thanks..... The first in a mini series of caches dedicated to one of my favourite groups. The line is from a song called Dancing Days (are here again) and it’s about the return of summer/the good times. The line from the song is really surreal and is much talked about on forums etc. Maybe you’ve got a theory about what it means? This is a walk up the old Stoneymollan Road and is in two or three or four parts depending on where you start from and where you turn round. If you park near N56° 00.125’ W04° 35.571’ in Balloch you start by crossing over the main road and up Lower Stoneymollan Road. The cache is 2.8 km from here with a steady climb most of the way. The first part is a boring part of the walk and you may like to chance your arm at getting a parking place up the lane (take the small turning off to the west of the main Stoneymollan roundabout on the A82 – they’re supposed to be geese. Apparently it has cost over £800,000 for the ‘gateway to Loch Lomond’ structure – bit of a Holyrood moment there I think!). Your chances are very limited unless you’re on two wheels like I was and then you can park at the gates at N56° 00.051’ W04° 36.600’. The cache is about 1.7 km from here. From this point you start up onto the open moor land along an old stone road. There are sheep roaming free here so keep control of your dogs. After a while you used to come to a woods but it's all gone now. Here you get a bit of a respite as the road levels off and the scenery changes. Just head straight on through to the gate at the other end near where the cache is hidden. It’s between a tree and the wall, not in it. There is no need to move any of the stones from the old dry stone wall. If you fancy a view of Arran keep going another few hundred meters to around N55° 59.935’ W04° 38.900’. If you keep going you’ll eventually end up in Cardross. Or of course you could start from the west side. If you do this you really should go through the woods and down the other side a bit to get the view of Loch Lomond. It would be cheating otherwise! P.S. There were no lions really or any other felines come to think of it but there were lots of ovines.
