What to bring: A number of items would be very helpful to
make this initiative go smoothly. Anyone and everyone that has the
following items are encouraged to bring them along:
Bottled water, Blaze Orange Vests, Work Gloves, Shovels, Garden
Rake, Hoe, Wheel Barrow, ATV with Trailer, and any other tool that
you feel would help with the clean up. Also for the BBQ your
folding chair would be great to take a break in.
Clean up will be followed by a BBQ and Geocaching Discussions.
We were hoping to be able to have sponcership to provide some food
for the BBQ but we have not had any luck. I will have to go out and
purchase the food from my pocket, there for we will have to sell it
at a cost recovery charge. Please indicate in your "WILL ATTEND"
how may persons will be in your party so we can purchase the
correct amount.
It is also possible that a Cache will be released on that day in
advance for those whom are present.
Let’s clean up our playing fields! Cache In Trash Out is an
activity intimately tied to geocaching. While out there on a cache
hunt, we collect litter along the trails and properly dispose of
it. On certain days, we also participate in much larger clean-up
events that involve and benefit the larger community. Cache In
Trash Out Day is an opportunity for geocachers to help clean up the
parks and other cache-friendly places throughout the world. Through
our volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our
outdoor resources.
The area selected this year in in a trail system near the
Exhibition Park. The entrance to this trail system has been used
for years as an illegal dump site and is in great need of our help.
A good portion of this trash has been removed recently with some
heavy equipment but there is still much work left to be done. We
ask all Geocachers, families and friends to join us on April. 22,
2006 for this very worthy cause to help clean up our province.
Special Acknowledgements :
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the groups and
organizations that are helping with this cause by way of donations,
waste removal, logistical support and guidance. With out your
valuable resources this would not be possible.
