Geocache Description:

Start Hill Sums

The co-orindates at the top of the page are not the location of the cache. They are in fact a parking location at Start Hill near Bishop's Stortford. The cache is close by.

Start Hill is at the beginning of the Flitch Way, a 15 mile cycle and walking route from Bishop's Stortford to Braintree. It is on the route of a disused railway line. It's a easy ride and more details can be found here. There area a number of other caches along the route so if you find them all you will have quite a haul.

This cache is part of a series with mathematical caches. To find the location of the cache you need to solve a maths problem. The problem for this uses some simple algebra.

You must solve the following equations to find x and y:

Once you have found the values of x and y then you can find the location of the cache which is:

51 degrees x minutes N and 0 degrees y minutes East.

The cache is a one litre tupperware container with a log book and pen, some small swaps and space for a few more. I hope you enjoy solving the problem, finding the cache and walking or cycling along the Flitch Way. There is no hint as it would a total give away.
