Geocache Description:

This is the second “Humith Smunt” Cache. This is a “forked” multi with three stages. The terrain is a pleasant woods trail to a glacial esker. The waypoints and cache are moderately difficult to find. Start by parking at the end of Great Woods Circle (N41 58.655’ W 071 12.540’) and enter at the Town of Norton Historical and Conservation land sign.

This is a slightly shorter multi than our first Humith Smunt Cache (sorry Jamis, we will make you a long, tough one some time). This adventure leads you up on a geological esker in the Great Woods. An esker is a mound of gravel deposited by an ancient river running under a glacier. When you find this cache look around you and realize that where you are standing was once a river bed with 2,000’ of ice over your head 10,000 years ago. Cache and waypoints are all on or very near trails. Depending on how you run this route it is about 1 mile. The waypoints and cache are generally well hidden. Find the first waypoint for clues to the next etc. You will need a small hand-held mirror to do this run.

This first Esker Adventure takes you on the northern end of the esker. After you have found this one go search for Esker Adventure II which takes you to the southern end of the esker. See "Humith Smunt Esker Adventure II" listing for details!

“Humith-Smunt” is a combination of the last names of Mr.Magoo32 and Admrudder. We have done adventure trips for years under this psedo-name so we felt starting a series of Geocaches with this name was appropriate.
