Geocache Description:

Sometime in the thirteenth century a group of native peoples once inhabited the area where this cache is placed. The Bulchittina (pronounced bowl-shy-tina) Tribe lived off the indigenous plants and animal life struggling to stay alive. Their luck was about to run out.

The first part of the cache places you in the middle of numerous rock structures, some semi-circular and some in a straight line. This is where the the Bulchittinas dug in preparing for war with the Crocuvkrap (pronounces crow-cue-crop) Tribe.

If you look south from here, across to the other side of the paved road, you may notice a small meadow at about the same elevation as where you are standing. Unbeknownst to the Bulls (as they will be referred to from now on), the Crocs (same thing) had been trying to squeeze out a living in and around that meadow for years. Neither tribe knew the other existed. Then Bigolie met Spinnayaarntou.

Bigolie was a young boy about twelve years of age. As a Bull, it was tribal custom for twelve year olds to look for a mate (maturity occurred at a much younger age). While hunting rabbits, Bigolie crossed the area that separated the two mountains (there was no paved road then) and climbed up the south hill. Much to his surprise, he discovered the Crocs and his eyes beheld the loveliest person he had ever seen- the 14 year old Spinnayaarntou.

Like Romeo and Juliet all over again, they began to secretly meet and won each others affections. Neither tribe knew of the clandestine rendezvous between the lovers. Had the Bulls found out about the meetings, Spinnayaarntou would have been burned. Had the Crocs discovered Bigolie, the slow process of skin peeling, or muertoexfolio, would have been his fate. Relationships outside the tribes were forbidden.

After a few months of secretive love, Bigolie was caught with Spinnayaarntou on the Crocs side of the mountain. Tribal leaders were furious. As preparations were made for Bigolie's muertoexfolio, Spinnayaarntou managed to free Bigolie and he fled to the safety of the Bull side of the mountains.

Chants, drumbeats, and preparations for war ensued. Both of the lovers were sad at the inability of the tribes to understand their destiny with each other. No matter what the two did to explain their affection for each other, the tribal leaders showed no mercy.

The Crocs attacked the Bulls on the very place you will stand for the first part of this cache. Those rock areas used to be walls about four feet high. The Bulls were prepared to fight. But, not being a war-like tribe, they had no idea how to fight. Bull religion taught that the sacred Juniper Berries, or Icanntbeleaveu Arbyinthis, had magical powers making those who ate them invincible. The Crocs had experience warring with other hostile tribe so they were prepared with spears and arrows.

It didn't take long for the Bulls to realize that the juniper berries did not make their warriors invincible. The Crocs started the unbalanced work of death. In desperation the Bulls started to throw juniper berries at the Crocs. It did nothing to help them.

The last Bull started to run north, up the mountain. The place where the actual cache is hidden is where the last Bull warrior died. That exact rock was the final resting place for a great, or not so great, peoples.

The Crocs went on to become the Hohoskam.

The cache container containers regular goodies and a first find Nutcracker.

Enjoy!
