The cache is inside Chalco Hills Recreation Area (Wehrspann
Lake). Park hours are 6am to 10pm. Do not approach from outside the
park. Tresspassing is bad karma and dangerous. Enter the park at
154th and Giles Road.
[Stage 1] Park at the attached waypoint. The first stage
is very easy. Follow the wide trails (concrete or woods) in the
general direction of the cache until you reach the remnants of what
used to be a Boy Scout cabin off to the right. There are a few
cinder blocks still here (Apr 2007).
[Stage 2] You are now 0.13 miles from the cache. Behind
the missing cabin you'll find a back woods trail that snakes
towards the cache. Stay on the trail until you're within 200 feet.
Most of the year this walk is easy and nice. Some late summer
months, though, the trail is very overgrown and you'll be whacking
through tall growth.
[Stage 3] You are now 200 feet from the cache. You'll
need to cross that crick. One of the bigger fallen trees was no big
whoop in daytime good weather for this 30 year old in sneakers and
his 1 pair of hounds. (Apr 2006: There's a full deer skeleton in
good shape right before crossing. Pretty cool.)
Happy hunting!
